Metropolis – Laurent Durieux – Limited Edition #39/300 (2013)
A beautifully designed limited-edition interpretation of Fritz Lang’s groundbreaking 1927 science-fiction masterpiece, Metropolis, by acclaimed Belgian artist Laurent Durieux.
Durieux’s striking Art Deco composition places the iconic Maschinenmensch, or Robot Maria, at the centre of a vast futuristic cityscape, surrounded by elevated transport systems, monumental architecture and the crowds of Metropolis below.
Produced by Dark Hall Mansion in 2013, the print uses a rich black, red and gold palette with metallic inks, giving the artwork considerably more depth and impact in person.
This example is hand-numbered 39/300 and signed by Laurent Durieux in gold ink.
